Peedestrian and bicycle bridge Lier - Sionsite

Source: Het Nieuwsblad

Solag, the Urban Development Corporation of the city of Lier has chosen a design for the bicycle and pedestrian bridge between the Sion site and the nature area Nazareth. The construction will start in the spring of 2017.

Solag chose the design by THV Herbosch-Kiere - CSM.
"It is a cable bridge with a central structure and a space defining element on the side of the nature reserve. Because of the central structure, the bridge deck is separated into two parts. Each part gets a useful width of 2.70 meters, so that cyclists and pedestrians can pass comfortably, "said Bert Wollants, chairman of Solag and also Mobility ships.

"On the central support structure are benches and thus transcends the mere connection function. With this bridge cyclists and pedestrians can easily and comfortably go from the city to the park in the valley of the Kleine Nete. "

"The structure is made of steel which will be painted in a shade of green that refers to the green of the park. The deck consists of oak planks with grooves filled with polyurethane resin to also ensure accessibility in wet weather without slippages. The handrails consist of a light, stainless steel net, stretched between stainless steel tubes. The construction of the bridge will take six months and cost 901.456 euros. "

Lower side atrium NBB

The lower side new atrium for the public room at the National Bank of Belgium is a steel construction made out of T-shape profiles 80 x 45 mm, which are all bended with a certain radius. The main elements are 15 m long, and in between there are hundreds of small T-profiles of 0,5 m. The hollow section beam on both the outside of the frames is constructed with plates and ‘submerged arc welded’ at our shop. The grid structure will be completely filled with glass panels. These panels consist of a layer of safety glass, with figure-hollow-section glass on the bottom side. The frames all together will span 80 m of length and will be mounted between the existing concrete balcony of the “Lokettenzaal” at NBB.
